Matt. 4:45 [ESV] so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
Matt. 4:45 [Message] for then you are working out of your true selves, your God-created selves. This is what God does. He gives his best—the sun to warm and the rain to nourish—to everyone, regardless: the good and bad, the nice and nasty.
I use to read this verse and think, “Life just isn’t fair” then I read Eugene Peterson’s translation of the verse in the Message, and it took on a whole new perspective.
God gives His best to everyone, good and bad, the nice and the nasty.
Which leaves me with a question, “Do I follow suit?” Do I give my best to everyone?
Paint a pretty world.
Be nice, to everybody!
Work a work in me that truly only you can work all the time.
Teach me to be more like you.
Help me paint a prettier world.
