Luke 10: 41,42 [ESV] But the Lord answered her, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, 42 but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.
Luke 10:41,42 [Message] The Master said, “Martha, dear Martha, you’re fussing far too much and getting yourself worked up over nothing. 42 One thing only is essential, and Mary has chosen it—it’s the main course, and won’t be taken from her.”
I like how Eugene Peterson in the Message says; “Martha, dear Martha…”
I need to hear “dear”
A little affection mixed with resolve. It give me that since of, “Hey let me help you with this one, your missing the point.”
Concern not condemnation
What matters most that Mary made a good choice or that Martha made a poor one?
Learn to give, what I want to earn.
I’d probably would of joked, “Lose the apron, Martha!”
And she would have been left wondering, “What?”
Guard my tongue.
Guard my attitudes.
