As we fast, one of the areas our church targets in prayer each year is to ask God to touch and heal marriages.  We believe that marriage is the foundation of the family and the family is the foundation of the church.  Healthy marriages produce healthy homes.  Healthy homes build healthy churches.  We believe what God has joined together, let no man put asunder.  We believe in one man and one woman joined together in covenant under God for life.  Our Marriage Ministry was named years ago, Couples in Covenant to serve as a reminder that marriage is not a contract between two people.  It is a covenant between two people before God.

God has challenged us as a Marriage Ministry at Free Chapel to fast, pray and believe Him for a 0% divorce rate in our church.  In our culture today, that may sound completely impossible. But we know according to Mark 9:23, “with God, all things are possible”.   We are well aware of the statistics on divorce.   They are the same inside the church as outside the church.  It has been shown that 1 out of 2 marriages in the church end in divorce.  Divorce has become so epidemic and so commonplace that many times we as the church feel defenseless against it.

But as we begin this fast and a brand new year, God has encouraged our hearts and strengthened our faith to believe Him afresh for healing to come to marriages and homes as never before.  As we enter this 12th year of the decade, the number twelve stands for what is completed, that forms a whole, a perfect and harmonious unit.   Our married couples met this past Sunday to pray for marriages in our church and nation.  We are praying and believing for harmony and peace to rest upon each of your homes.  Let’s stand together as we fast and pray and believe God for the spirit of divorce to be defeated.  God hates divorce!  And as Christians, so should we!

This year, my husband and I will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary.  We stand in awe of His mercy and grace.  He has been the glue to keep us together through good times and bad.  One of the things that has strengthened our relationship is getting plugged into the Marriage Ministry at our church and being a part of the classes and conferences available to us.  If it hadn’t been for a strong church and marriage ministry, we might not be together today.  That’s why I am so passionate about reaching out to couples and encouraging them to invest in their marriage and become a part of the marriage ministry in your church.

As we fast, we pray God’s richest blessings on your marriages and homes for 2012.  We believe that every family and marriage has a specific mission together. We pray that God will reveal and make His divine assignment for your marriage and family clear.  He brought you together for a reason and He is ready to use you to bring salvation, healing and deliverance to homes all over the world.

We stand together for happy marriages and against the plight of divorce in Jesus Name.
