WELL PLAYED FAITH

’13 RBY – READ the BIBLE in a YEAR – Today’s Scripture: 1 Samuel 29

well played

I am an eternal romantic and will admit to sometimes wearing very rose colored glasses. I mention it because sometimes when I am reading Scripture I tend to project myself on the reading. At times such a behavior may well end up with me taking the reading out of context. Others will have to judge if that’s what I have done today, but I like where my romantic side lead me.

1 Samuel 29 is a chapter about David volunteering himself and his men to fight against his own people and a King that he continually refuses to kill. I think David found himself between a rock and a hard place. And at verse 8 when he says; “What have I done to deserve this treatment?” David demanded. “What have you ever found in your servant, that I can’t go and fight the enemies of my lord the king?”  I think this was a total bluff! Think about it, if David had refused to fight the Israelis and King Saul he ends up fighting these very same people he is volunteering to fight with. I believe it was a bluff! And I say well played David, well played! When the odds are overwhelming hold your cards close and trust God completely. David lived to fight another day and not against his own people.
