’13 READ the BIBLE in a YEAR                                                                                               Today’s Readings: 2 Samuel 10 / 1 Chronicles 20 / John 10

Six times in John chapter 10, Jesus makes an “I AM” statement. Twice He repeats himself. vv. 7,9: “I am the gate.” vv.11,14: “I am the good shepherd” v.36: “I am the Son of God. v.38: “I am in the Father” Any Jew listening heard Jesus claiming to be God ever time He made an “I AM” statement, because to the Jews, “I AM” is the very name of God. Hear this conversation between Moses and God in Exodus 3. vv. 13,14  Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?” 14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am.[b] This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’”

Here’s my favorite verse in John chapter 10 – it’s the last verse in the chapter. Verse 42: And many who were there believed in Jesus.

The statement leaves me with questions. Do I believe in Jesus? Do I believe Jesus is God? Is my life different because of that belief? Do I hear His voice? Have I entered through the gate? Am I following Him? Do I have “I AM” Faith? “God Faith?” Have I “Got Faith?
