2013 READ the BIBLE in a YEAR Today’s Reading: 2 Samuel 22 / John 18/ Psalm 18
I read 2 Samuel 22 this morning and then “life just happened” and I didn’t get to finish the reading until this afternoon, and now it’s 8:45pm and I don’t think I’ve ever written a reflection this late in the day. All that said, When I was reading Psalm 18 this afternoon I was thinking, “Man, I think I’ve already read this?” And then I realized that 2 Samuel 22 and Psalm 18 are almost word for word. CRAZY! So, if God’s got me reading the same Bible verses twice you’d think at least one of them would grab my heart and one did.
2 Samuel 22:27 [NLT] You have made a wide path for my feet to keep them from slipping. Psalm 18:36 [NLT] You have made a wide path for my feet to keep them from slipping.
Here’s my late night thought [oh I’m getting old, think 9:00pm is “late night”] Here’s my thought.
My loving God doesn’t want me to fall! I mean the verse says He has made the path wide, so I wouldn’t even slip, who said anything about falling. That’s grace, and love and mercy all wrapped up in one big loving God.
1 John 4:19 [NIV] We love because he first loved us.
