Remember the rhyme, ” Lair, Lair, pants on fire!” Maybe, maybe not.
1 John 1:6 [NLT] So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth.
While reading in the Old Testament, I read about the Israelites hedging their bets worships idols, perhaps hoping for extra protection. In today’s world we have our idols too and we worship them not to get protection, but rather added pleasure from this world.
It didn’t work then, and it won’t work now.
1 John 1:7 [NLT] But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin
We have to choose, light or darkness, God or idols, righteousness or sin. Think of them as the two sides of any street, light on one side, darkness on the other. God on one side of the street and idols on the other. Idols like wasted time, unhealthy living, excess. Right living on one side of the street and not giving a damn about anyone or any thing on the other. We have to choose which side we are going to walk on. We can’t keep walking from side to side like a drunk going nowhere.
At some point we have to “CHOOSE FAITH” – and the sooner we do, the sooner we experience the fullness of God.
