2013 READ the BIBLE in a YEAR / Today’s Reading: Genesis 14-16; Matthew 9

No Blind Faith

It’s all about having a routine. Usually I read my Bible and write after we get home from the gym. This week for some reason I’ve been waking up early and find myself reading my Bible and praying before I go to the gym and then tell myself; “Write something up later.”

Well “later” hasn’t been happening this week. Even now, I just came back from going out to dinner with my wife and I’ve ready to play “couch potato” – but like I hope it happens to all of us from time to time, some of the verses I read this morning has been with me all day.

Matthew 9:27-29 [NLT] After Jesus left the girl’s home, two blind men followed along behind him, shouting, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” 28 They went right into the house where he was staying, and Jesus asked them, “Do you believe I can make you see?” “Yes, Lord,” they told him, “we do.” 29 Then he touched their eyes and said, “Because of your faith, it will happen.”

I’m feeling a bit like those two blind men, I’m not physically blind, but there are some definite “blind spots” when it comes to my faith walk. And like those two blind men, I find myself shouting, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” – And YES! LORD! – I believe you can make me see!”
