can you hear me now

Psalm 27:7-14 [NLT]

Hear me as I pray, O Lord.
Be merciful and answer me!
8 My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.”
And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”
9 Do not turn your back on me.
Do not reject your servant in anger.
You have always been my helper.
Don’t leave me now; don’t abandon me,
O God of my salvation!
10 Even if my father and mother abandon me,
the Lord will hold me close.
11 Teach me how to live, O Lord.
Lead me along the right path,
for my enemies are waiting for me.
12 Do not let me fall into their hands.
For they accuse me of things I’ve never done;
with every breath they threaten me with violence.
13 Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness
while I am here in the land of the living.
14 Wait patiently for the Lord.
Be brave and courageous.
Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.

Some people, some of my peoples think the Bible is nothing but a book of do’s and don’t.
Normally I would argue the point – not this morning:
DON’TS.                                                                                   DO’S.
Do not turn your back on me.                                           Hear me as I pray
Do not reject your servant in anger.                               Be merciful and answer me!
Don’t leave me now                                                             Teach me how to live
Don’t abandon me                                                                Lead me along the right path
Do not let me fall into their hands.                                Wait patiently for the Lord.
I’m reminded this morning how much I need you, I DO!
I DON’T want to do today without you.
Christianity is so much more about be SAVED than it is about SINNING.
Christianity is so much more about NEED than it is about WANT.
I need Thee every hour
Can you. Hear me. NOW!

From “Songs of Jesus”
FINDING HIS BEAUTY. David is having difficulties, but the beauty of God enables him to live in confident peace (verses 1 and 6). If our hearts delight in God and his face, then we can contemplate losing earthly joys without fear. Even if our mother and father forsake us, we can face it (verse 10). Why? If our greatest treasure—communion with the living God—is safe, of what can we be afraid? Yet we are afraid of so many things. So our fears can serve an important purpose—they show us where we have really located our heart’s treasure. Follow the pathway of the fear back into your heart to discover the things you love more than God.

Prayer: Lord, I will obey you simply because you are worthy of it and it is my duty. But don’t let my service to you remain at that level. Show me your beauty—attract my heart, capture my imagination, so that I find joyful pleasure in serving you. Amen.
